Spinal Muscular Atrophy Malaysia’s 3rd Annual General Meeting 2020
The Spinal Muscular Atrophy Malaysia (SMAM) held its 3
rd Annual General Meeting for the year 2020 on 29 February 2020 at the PJ Campus of Brickfields Asia College. 42 members of the organisation attended the AGM.
The meeting was chaired by Cik Siti Safura Jaapar, the President of SMAM, and commenced with the presentation of the Annual Report of Activities and Statements for 2019. This was closely followed by the disbandment and appointment of new SMAM Exco for 2020/2021 session.
During the meeting, a coloring contest was also held for the children present. This activity would indirectly encourage the inclusive and close interaction between normal children and Spinal Muscular Atrophy children in which built respect and love among them. At the end of the session, Pn. Nadiah Hanim Abdul Latif, the Vice President of Malaysia Rare Disorder Society presented prizes to the winners of the colouring contest.
The Make It Right Movement (MIRM) supported the session by providing assistance in booking the venue suitable for wheelchair users and the provision of meals.
SMAM is a non-governmental organisation (NGO) built to promote awareness and support for children and parents born with a rare condition called spinal muscular atrophy (SMA).
