MIRM
Founded in 2015, the Make It Right Movement (MIRM) is a CSR initiative by Brickfields Asia College (BAC) that aims to create a sustained positive impact on society by championing community causes both locally and globally, leveraging all resources of the BAC Education Group. MIRM provides a platform for businesses and organisations to meet their social objectives through active partnerships and strong affiliations, built around efficiently managed community engagement. MIRM collaborates with over 80 social good entities, and is involved in more than 200 charity programmes and CSR-related projects and events annually. We proudly support the initiatives, projects and causes of our students, partners and affiliates, and welcome all suggestions to bring progressive social change.
MEET THE MIRM TEAM
Raja Singham
Founder
Co-founder and Company Director of the BAC Education Group, Raja Singham is an educator, entrepreneur and a founding member of a range of companies specialising in education, corporate training, advertising, publications, event management and IT development.
Raja founded Brickfields Asia College (BAC) in 1991 at the age of 24 which grew to become the largest law school in Malaysia. Named Education Man of the Year by the Brand Laureate for his significant contribution to the education sector, he has implemented various initiatives to improve education and access to education in Malaysia. He also received the National Outstanding Educator Award in 2015 from the Private Education Co-operative of Malaysia. Raja was recently invited to join the ASEAN Business Advisory Council as the Malaysian representative. He was also appointed the Lead Mentor of the ASEAN Mentorship for Entrepreneurs Network (AMEN) in Malaysia under the ASEAN Business Advisory Council. He was named a Circle Expert for TN50 (Transformasi National 2050) on Work and Value Creation which looked at the future of jobs, skills and careers to prepare the Malaysian education system and workforce for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.
A well-known philanthropist whose personal mission is to transform a million lives through education, Raja now spends most of his time supporting both Malaysian and international causes under the Make It Right Movement (MIRM) umbrella.
Brian Lariche
CEO of Make It Right Movement
Brian has vast experience in community development in Malaysia and internationally. He was Project Adviser for the UNDP Malaysia, and is also a trained facilitator for numerous local and international youth and community engagement programs. He has published, written, translated and adapted numerous books, manuals and brochures on socio-medical issues and governance. He sits on numerous committees globally. Brian’s passion lies in seeing equity in society. He manages the overall direction of MIRM in consultation with the Founder.
Amanda Kong
Community Development Manager
Amanda was diagnosed with Congenital Glaucoma at birth, which resulted in vision impairment. Unhindered by her predicament, she defied expectations when awarded the Outstanding Cambridge Learners Award for being the Top Law Student in the World in 2013. This tenacious young woman continues to inspire others when she graduated with a Class I LLB (HONS) from the University of Liverpool in 2016.
Amanda’s greatest milestone in her life’s journey is being admitted and enrolled as an Advocate & Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya.
In line with her passion to champion for the cause of PWDs in Malaysia, coupled with her determination to give back to the community, Amanda joined MIRM and is currently developing her experience in CSR-related works, by working closely with the CEO and the MIRM team on various projects in collaboration with MIRM’s partners and affiliates. Not forgetting her cause, Amanda’s portfolio also focuses on projects which champions diversity and inclusion:
- Redrafting the Persons with Disabilities Act 2008;
- Glamour Includes – a fashion show promoting adaptive clothing for PWDs;
- Conducting briefings with the MIRM team at corporate bodies to promote diversity and inclusion of PWDs in the workforce; and
- Curating the first ever report on the status of PWDs in Malaysia.
Amanda strives to “make it right” towards a more inclusive world.
Shaqraz Ahmad
Logistic and Project Associate
Shaqraz is our Logistic and project Associate at the MIRM. He focuses on developing training modules, event management and managing the social media for MIRM making him an integral part of the team. He believes in supporting the suppressed and underprivileged communities which is his main focus at MIRM.
