Fulbright English Teaching Assistant Women’s Empowerment Summit
GIRL POWER!
Fulbright Malaysia and Make it Right Movement (MIRM) organised the Women’s Empowerment Summit, a three-and-a-half-day program at the KL Campus of Brickfields Asia College 2.
The organisers aimed to raise awareness and advocate for women empowerment. This is done by having numerous interactive activities such as panel discussion sessions, creative thinking sessions, problem solving projects.
This summit was attended by 160 participants consisting of female secondary school students, teachers, English Teaching Assistants and Speakers. YB Hannah Yeoh, Deputy Women, Community & Family who was one of the Speaker in the panel discussion session commented that “The summit was very well planned and it was great to see the enthusiastic involvement and confident responses of the Malaysian girls who have a reputation and tendency towards silence a result of lack of self-confidence.”
Many participants were seen with teary eyes as they bid farewell to one another before departing back home as they were very impressed with the Summit and gained insightful experiences. They also made lifelong friends throughout the Summit and pledged to keep in touch with one another by exchanging their Social Media account! Thank goodness for the advancement of technology these days!
The event was conducted to empower young girls to find their voice and work for their ambitions within Malaysia’s female youth.
