“Paintings on My Mind” Charity Art Exhibition raises funds for Rachel Siew Suet Li Trust Fund

The “Paintings on My Mind” Charity Art Exhibition was launched at the GS Artcade Fine Arts Gallery in Petaling Jaya on the 4th of November 2017, in collaboration with the Make It Right Movement (MIRM) — a CSR arm powered by Brickfields Asia College — and the Rachel Siew Suet Li Trust Fund (RSTF). Spearheaded by Brian Lariche, Head of Community Development at MIRM, the art exhibition was held from the 2nd to the 5th of November 2017 and featured renowned local artists such as Abu Hasan, Nizar Kamal Ariffin, Shima and Harris Ribut, who showcased his exclusive sketches for the very first time.

Being the first of its kind, the art exhibition will be held yearly to raise funds for RSTF, a trust fund established to fund medical treatments for author and community advocate Rachel Siew. Born with a rare degenerative genetic condition called Mucopolysaccharidosis (MPS IVA) — also known as Morquio Syndrome — Rachel, 28, requires lifelong treatment in the form of intravenous enzyme replacement therapy (ERT), which costs in excess of RM 1.6 million per annum.

The featured artists donated 51% from the sales of their respective paintings to RSTF, and a total of RM 108,757.50 was raised over the four-day event.
